Verdane Elevate is looking for an experienced VP Portfolio Product + Technology to join its technology and product practice, advising the technology leaders of portfolio companies across Verdane’s Digital thematic.
Reporting to the Chief Technology and Product Officer, Digital, you will work directly with Chief Technology Officers, engineering leaders and company boards to strengthen technology strategy, improve engineering capability and build resilient, scalable platforms that support long-term growth. The portfolio spans consumer products, digital services, e-commerce and software businesses across markets including the Nordics, DACH and wider Europe.
You will also play a central role in the investment cycle, supporting deal teams during due diligence to assess technology maturity, architecture quality and engineering organisation health, and contributing to value creation plans throughout the holding period.

INVEST
BUILD
KNOWLEDGE & NETWORK
- Assess engineering organisations, product offerings and technology architectures during deal evaluation.
- Provide go/no-go input to investment teams on technology risk, scalability constraints and the cost of technical debt.
- Identify technology improvement priorities and translate these into initial value creation plan contributions.
BUILD
- Advise CTOs and engineering leaders on IT and AI strategy, transformation, architecture and scalability to support exceptional growth.
- Track developments in applied AI and evaluate emerging tools and vendors on behalf of the portfolio, sharing findings across the Elevate community.
- Review and work with senior IT leaders on optimising engineering team structures, ways of working and delivery practices.
- Advise on build-versus-buy decisions, vendor selection and technology partnerships.
KNOWLEDGE & NETWORK
- Contribute to the Elevate ecosystem by sharing knowledge, facilitating peer learning across portfolio CTOs and representing Verdane at technology community events.
Your profile
- 15 or more years of experience in senior technology leadership, including significant time leading and scaling large engineering organisations — as CTO, VP of Engineering or equivalent — ideally in high-growth or consumer-facing businesses.
- Deep, hands-on expertise across technology architecture, cloud infrastructure, data platforms, AI application and cybersecurity.
- Genuinely enthusiastic about AI and its practical potential: you follow developments closely, have applied AI tools in meaningful ways and can speak credibly about where it creates real value.
- Experienced in assessing and improving engineering team effectiveness, development processes and organisational design.
- A structured, outcome-focused approach to problem-solving — situation, complication, recommendation
- Able to communicate technology strategy clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including boards and investment teams.
- Experience working with a private equity firm or in a portfolio advisory capacity is an advantage but not required.
- Comfortable operating across different European business cultures and happy to travel regularly.
